PCOS links with other conditions?From: Jackie (anonymous@obgyn.net)Wed, 31 May 2000 14:16:12 -0500 (CDT)
As mentioned in a previous posting, I have recently been diagnosed with PCOS. I have other medical conditions and am wondering if they may be connected. Even my doctor was wondering the same thing. I have a "Marfans-like" syndrome (they are not sure if I actually have Marfans) which means I am tall and thin and have mitral valve prolapse (as well as a few of the other symptoms that go with Marfans). As well, I am prone to severe migraine headaches. I also may have hypercoaguable blood because within a month after starting the birth control pill for the first time 3 years ago, I developed a blood clot in my left leg extending from my ankle to just below my knee (I am 28 years old and have never smoked). Anybody know of any connection? I know that most PCOS patients are not thin, but I was wondering if there was some type of connection. Thank you for your help.
