Re: problems with doctors, any suggestions???From: Herring (anonymous@obgyn.net)Wed, 31 May 2000 11:58:00 -0500
Kristi, I can definatly understand your problems with the military doctors. My husband is military also, and until March I felt like I was talking to a brick wall. Finally I found a wonderful OB/GYN and asked him about PCOS and he gave me a referral for another hospital. I am not seeing a RE at KU med center in Kansas City. Anyway, request a referral to a fertility speciality (RE), and if the first doctor won't give it to you, then keep making appointments. I had to go back to the Post hospital today to get another referral from the same dr. (wait 40 minutes for the appt and he writes it up in 2 minutes), so be prepared to have to still go back even after the initial referral, (mine was good for 2 visits, now I think it is unlimited since I have a diagnosis). Where are you stationed at Kristi? I haven't had any problems with tricare, just having to pay the copay ($12 per visit), but some people do. I was diagnosed woth PCO 8 years ago. I was on the pill for 7 years and had no symptoms. Now, I am trying to get pregnant. Since going off the pill three months ago, my cycles get longer and longer and now my PCO symptoms are worse than when I was diagnosed. My husband is in the military, so I go to the base clinic and end up seeing a different doc everytime. I want to go on met or try clomid, but I am having no luck convincing the docs to put me on either one. I have charted my temps since going off the pill and it is obvious that I am not ovulating. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. THANKS!!
-- Kristi
