No you dont have to have cysts on ovaries to have PCOS--b/c it has nothing to do with ovaries, it's with your insulin metabolism. Which just shows up on ovaries sometimes (the condition is misnamed) Other symptoms can be used to diagnose you altho IGTT I guess is one way to know for sure. But my endo. diagnosed me with PCOS based on my complaints: body hair, can't lose wieght, irreg periods, etc. ANd also by my elevated testost. on blood test.

Never once looked at my ovaries. DIdn't need to. HOpe that helps. Please also see that web address I posted yesterday (2nd to last post of day)--it has TONS of facts re: PCOS
