Re: To Barbara (?) - Decision not to take MetFrom: Barbara (anonymous@obgyn.net)Mon, 29 May 2000 11:18:59 -0500 (CDT)
Hi Lisa: I chose not to take Met for my own personal reasons, and I am happy to share them with you. I think each person has to decide for themselves what is right for them. I have never been a good "pill taker". I dislike the idea that I would have to be on Met, potentially for the rest of my life. I did not like the list of possible side effects, as it was my feeling that there could be some harm to my body. I chose to try Inositol and Chromium GTF, a low carb diet, and excercise. Inositol is something your body all ready makes, (except we are apparently deficient), and Chromium is something we need. Also, I could find no negative side effects with these two supplements from the research I did. I am fortunate that from past experience I know that I probably would not need a "high level of intervention". Weight loss, and excercise helped regulate my cycles at one point. I have what could be described as a 'middle of the road' case of PCOS. I don't think this choice would be right for everyone, but my doctor was ok with it, she is retesting me in a couple of months to see how my IR is doing with this new regimen and I am also on BCP for now. I have been doing this for almost 3 weeks, and I feel alot better -more energy, less moody, I have lost 6 pounds and no bad side effects so far. Of course, this week is usually when my PMS starts so we'll see if it all helps with that! :) Take care, At Sat, 27 May 2000, lisa wrote: > >Hi! > >I believe it was in one of your posts that you mentioned that you were >offered Met but chose not to use it? > >Why? >What are you doing instead? >How are you being monitored by Dr? > >I am waiting for blood tests results.
