Re: A Few Questions

Sunfire~~I have had some symptoms of PCOS since I was around 12, but only recently, within the last couple of years or so have they been so bad. I'm almost 37, have for the most part always had regular periods, although within the past few months they are spacing out a little 35-40 days instead of my normal 30. My biggest complaint has always been my weight. I've always had a thick, healthy head of hair, but it has been falling out for the past 2 years. It is still ok, but I can see my scalp when it's wet and I brush it straight back and I have to fluff it around to not see my scalp when it's dry. I've always had more dark hair on my arms and upper thighs than any of my friends, but now it looks like a dark-haired man--this has all worsened over the past couple of years. I also had a little moustache which would grow in every few weeks, until the past couple of years, and I find myself shaving it everyday, as well as the hairs that are now growing in on my chin and neck! What I am trying to say is that mine has progressively gotten worse. While the cosmetic things are gross to me, my biggest concern is that this can so quickly develop into diabetes, heart disease, etc. if left untreated.

It's worth checking into. It sounds like you have a good doc!
