My first few docs also suggested bc pills to "fix the problem" saying "as long as you get a period...you'll be fine!" I even had one (female) who said, "who cares if you don't get your period! I would love to never have mine again...and, think of the money you'll save on tampons!!"

Thank goodness I decided to pursue the issue on my own...switching docs 5-6 times! I now realize bc pills are not a "cure" but merely a way to "cover-up" a symptom. Usually done by physicians who have little or no knowledge about the subject. This is a real problem! Had I known then what I know now about PCOS & IR... I might not have gained 100+ lbs and suffered from many of the other symptoms.

I too am not married and have no children. I do not see myself having children for quite a few years. Regardless, I am still in battle with this head on. Try to do something about it early...that way you may have a better chance of controlling your symptoms now before they really get out of control! Good luck to you! Alexis
