IVY.. Sorry it has been so long since I have answered, but work has been keeping me busy. Hope you have a comfy chair cause this is a long story .. :) First let me tell u about myself. My name is Bitsy. i’m 28 and have been married almost 6 years and have no children. Most of my life has been nothing but doctor visit and alot of “ I don’t knows”.. I started having problems from the very begining. I started for the first time when I was 12., and have never started a period on my own ( without some type of meds) ever. After 5 mths of not having one, my mom started the first of my dr visits. They ran some test and told her everything was fine and just to put me on BCP and that would straighten it out. Well I never had a regular cycle on them ( just would bleed for one day) and the drs said that was fine.. So I stayed on BCP for 10 years.. I never much worried about it cause I was young and wasn’t concerned with it . If the Drs thought it was ok then so did I.. UNTIL.. I got married and was ready to start having children. I went off the pill a few mths after I got married. We tried unsucessfully to get preg. for about 1 1/2 before I started to think something was wrong. I went to my regular dr, and he said he would run some blood work .. of course everything was normal, and suggested that I go to the fertility doc. .. So off I went. He did all kinds of test.. labs, dye test , u name it. ALL those test came back normal and I was getting very upset. I kept asking “ IF everything is normal then WHY don’t I have a cycle??” That was something no one could ever answer for me. They told me well u just have anaovualation and You have a choice of taking BCP or provera for the rest of your life.. ( NICE doc huh) It just went on and on and on... Which I am sure there are many people who can understand that.. It is so frustrating..

So I just tried to forget about it for awhile. Then I started noticing alot of changes in myself. I gained ALOT of weight ( 220 now) , hair starting falling out ( which everyone thought I was nuts) , hair started growning on chin and many other places I didn’t want.. and all types of other things.. I went back to the Doc. ( BY the way I changed docs several times .. U told me to get an 18th opioion.. To date I have probably had 50 or more hehe.. ) He told me that I needed to excersice and that the other was probably just stress from trying to get preg. WHATEVER hehe

In FEB of 98 we moved to FL. It was time for my yearly check up so I went to a dr. that everyone had told me was great.. Well for once they were right... I talked with him for a few mins and told him what all had been going on and he said I can tell u just by looking at you what is wrong.. Your thyroid. I told him that I had many thyroid test before and they were always normal, and he said something that changed my thinking.. . He said Bitsy what is normal?? what is normal for me , may be completely different for you.. I knew I liked him right away.. HE promised me that day ,, that HE would find out “WHY “ for me. First thing he did was sent me for an entire blood work up and thyroid ultrasound.. Well guess what they found.. a goiter on my thyroid.. I broke down and cried. I couldn’t believe it.. It was finally over for me.. I knew why. they could fix it and I could have babies.. HA! ( hehe) Little did I know.. haaha He became very conerned with my testosterone levels Was 165 .. ( supposed to be under 27 in women) so he sent me for a pelvic cat scan. Well I guess u know what that showed. PCOS.. He and a endo studied it and told me that from the size of my ovaries that they believe that either one of them could rupture at any time. ( that’s always nice to know huh? ) That is why he feels that I should have them out. , plus he thinks maybe it will help me overall healthwise. I trust my dr and he is the first one to tell you he doesn’t know alot about it , but he is willing to learn. He calls me at home to tell me he found something on the internet or welcomes any info that I will bring in. So I respect what he tells me, because I feel like he is the only one who has ever tried to help me. I have been on met for 7 mths so far ( 2000 mg) we tried this because we found alot of info on women who had taken it and had sucessfully started a regular cycle, and become preg. But it had a 10 mth limit on it .. If it hasn’t worked by then , then it’s not going too.. I have tried some other different things but so far nothing has worked.. .. My body is very med resistant.. I did try clomid in the earlier years but no results. We found some info on combining met and clomid and I tried that , only to end up in the hospital with a severe allergic reacion.. Who knows .. My dr. did all the research on it and it is supposed to be safe together, but ..

So he said in Sept we are going to sit down with a fertility specailist and endo spec. to make sure that we have exhased all efforts in us having children ( other than IVF can’t afford ) and he told me if they agree with what he says about taking them out , then I should for my health. So that is kinda where I am right now. It has been a battle , which I am sure that everyone has had their battle, but I just don’t like to lose. Kinda at a loss now. Don’t really know what to do. Before I ended up in the hospital I said that I would risk my own health to have a child, but after that I changed my mind. I like being around hehe . I am open to any and all advice you all have. I have tried literally everything. I was reading through the board and it was such a relieve to see that I was not the only one. I also read a post about removing ovaries and that how just cause they are gone, doesn’t necessary mean that symptoms will go away.. that scared me.

Well I am sorry that I have rambled so much, but it is nice to tell someone that actually understands what I have been though.. because u have been there too.. Thank you for listening..
