Hi Charity -

I am going to see a gyno in one week - I have a 3.5cm cyst on my left ovary - on top of about 20-30 cysts on each ovary - What did your GP say about the cyst? I have looked into cysts and there seems to be different types - my GP believes mine is a dermoid cyst (used interchangably with tumor) - He has referred me to a gyno - and suggested that the gyno would probably want to do a biopsy to see if it is benine or cancerous (don't let this worry you - the majority of cysts are benine). I am not professionally or medically in a position to comment - however, when I was having my ultrasound - the lady was fantastic - and when she pointed out the 3.5cm cyst - I asked her if that was big - she said - well, yes, for your size - BUT - she said not to worry as some cysts are reabsorbed, and generally GPs/Gynos might have a tendency to wait for the next period to see if it would reduce or go away. She did mention in her experience, larger cysts, if they are causing pain - should get immediate attention -

Good luck - let me know how you go.... Lara.
