Re: some WEIRD suggestions from a doctor....From: Herring (anonymous@obgyn.net)Thu, 25 May 2000 07:40:56 -0500
What is this guy trying to do turn you into a man????? I can't believe he is suggesting you jog 10 miles a day!!! I have never been able to jog that far in my entire life. (even when I was a runner) OH and the testosterone thing is funny. Sounds like he does sound entirely whacked to me!!! Just add him to the list of people that mean well, but really don't have much of a clue about PCOS. :-)) Annetta -----Original Message----- From: anonymous@obgyn.net [mailto:anonymous@obgyn.net Sent: Wednesday, May 24, 2000 9:07 PM To: Multiple recipients of list PCOS Subject: some WEIRD suggestions from a doctor.... Hello all! After seeing everyone here posting over the past few weeks, I GOTTA say how great you all are! What a wonderful, warm, supportive, cheerful BEAUTIFUL bunch of ladies, even if sometimes some of you don't feel like it :) yay us! ANYWAY, I was at an occupational health doctor today, seeing him about something totally unrelated (carpal tunnel starting in my arm.) he looked at my medical chart and got all excited over me having PCOS! "I used to be an obgyn, you know," he said. "Uh-huh." I said. (heard this all before!) He then proceeded to tell me that not only was my carpal tunnel caused by my PCOS ('all diabetics get that!') but that what I REALLY needed to be doing, if I wanted to be at all well was: a) Jog 10 miles a day, every morning. Have I ever mentioned I weigh about 330? Um can we say goodbye knees? besides I currently walk OVER 10 miles a day, uphill, and it doesn't do a darn thing for me b) Take mega doses of vitamin B6 c) Come into his office and get routine injections of testosterone! Isn't the problem that we have too MUCH testosterone? Anyway, so I am wondering if he was just entirely whacked, or if any of these ideas makes sense to you ladies, or have been suggested by other physicians, or whatever! It would be nice if something as simple as B6 would fix this! :) I think you're all perfectly wonderful! Sonnet
