Kristin~~It is wonderful that you were diagnosed at such a young age. That can only work to your benefit if you get the right treatment. I've had symptoms since before I was your age (I'm now 36), and am still awaiting a correct diagnosis. Although having children proved a little more difficult, I now have 4 wonderful healthy children. The best thing you can do is to talk with your dr. about the latest treatment options (metformin, spriroladactone, etc.--there are many posts here with this info). While bcp's treat some of the symptoms, they don't deal with the root cause of PCOS, which is a problem with the way the body deals with insulin. Read through some of the postings here, visit the other websites mentioned and even print some information. Do you have a parent who is supportive and would be willing to stick up for you if your dr. won't listen? Getting onto the right medications at your age will not only help in dealing with some of the symptoms, but will increase your chances of conceiving later in life when you are ready to start your own family. Blessings to you.
