Hi Sam!!

Wondering if you are taking (or have taken) the Q10?? Any results?

Atkins does say some people are more resistant to getting into ketosis than others - but thats not the same as saying if you have insulin resistance you will have trouble. Low carbing is essentially designed for anyone with insulin resistance simply because it reduces the number of carbs you take in and thus the levels of insulin your body produces to deal with those carbs.

At the end of that the book provides a guide on your levels of resistance, based on the amount of weight you have lost. If I rememer correctly about 12 - 14lbs is good and indicates lowish resistance - where obviously 'nothing' indicates very high resistance. In which case it is then recommended that you follow the 'high fat' diet you mentioned. He actually provides a number of recipes in the book, which I thought looked quite delicious - but I havent had to try them (or live on them) so I could be completely wrong :))

I started the induction taking a multivit that included chromium, vit c, biotin and pantothenic acid - but I took 2 a day (twice recommended dose). Atkins suggests that our bodies have depleted many of these necessary vitiamins and minerals in our bodies due to our high carb diets - so the theory is we need more than the RDA.

> Even before the 2 week induction had finished I had purchased a number of other supplements and currently take 1 multivit plus additional supplements of hemp (essential fatty acids), pantothenic acid, chromium GTF (just switched from pic to see if there is any difference), Biotin, potassium, magnesium, zinc, calcium, vit c, inositol, selenium, Q10, (and possibly some I cant remember <BG>)
> yes I prolly do rattle when I walk!! Q10 is one of the supplments Atkins recommended for increased weight loss. I believe most of these aid in fat mobilisation, whilst others are reputed to have a good effect on your moods. Pottassium, magnesium and calcium all help with things like cramp. Vit C (with riboflavs) is an essential for things like regular bowel movement :( <G>. All these things contribute to overall feeling of good health and additional energy.

> It is also essential that you drink plenty of water - at least 8 glasses a day - this makes sure you dont dehydrate cos low carbing has a diuretic effect - but also helps with skin (keeping it clear and making it elastic so that it shrinks as you lose wieght) plus good for bowels (do I sound bowel obsessed <G>)
