IntroductionFrom: Michelle (anonymous@obgyn.net)Wed, 10 May 2000 15:17:36 EDT
Hi Everyone: My name is Michelle. I'm 33 and was diagnosed with PCOS last week. DH and I have been ttc since Oct 99 with no success. I knew that something was wrong with me for a number of years but could never pinpoint what it was. I already had a son (15 next month) so I thought I wouldn't have a problem ttc. Over the past few years, I've gained a lot of weight and couldn't understand why. I wasn't eating any differently but the weight kept coming on. My acne was worse than when I was a teenager and the hair growth was disgusting. Over the years, I would treat the symptons and couldn't understand why they would keep on coming back until I read the article in Women's Day and saw myself in it. I took the article to my OB/GYN who ran the blood work and diagnosed me. I saw the RE last week who confirmed the diagnosis and started me on Metformin to get my insulin levels back to normal. I'm so happy for the web because I have been able to find wonderful information on PCOS and even happier to know that I'm not the only one. Finally, an answer to what was going on with me, it's such a relief even though I wish I didn't have it but everyone around me is extremely optimistic so that helps a lot.
