Atkins not workingFrom: anonymous (anonymous@obgyn.net)Wed, 10 May 2000 11:38:59 -0500 (CDT)
I was wondering if anyone out there had had difficulty losing weight on Atkins. I followed the diet strictly for the 2 week induction period and did not lose a pound. This is very frustrating. I am 22 years old. I am not terribly overweight, but would like to lose about 15 pounds. I exercise 3 to 4 times a week, and take 500 mg/day of glucophage, which is enough to make me menstruate normally. I don't know why I didn't lose any weight. Do insulin resistant people need to stay in the strict induction period for longer than 2 weeks? Family members of mine who went on the diet with me lost weight. My mother lost 7 pounds and my father 8. Looking on the Atkins discussion board, i saw that PCOS women were quite successfully losing weight on this diet. Why am i so different? Is it the resistance? The medication? Anybody have any ideas? Thanks so much!
