Re: PCOS, Metformin and cholesterolFrom: A (anonymous@obgyn.net)Wed, 03 May 2000 23:25:56 -0400
Clara- Nothing specific really. I have read Atkins, Protein Power & Carb Addict's & have made up my own program....which, to date, seems to be working quite well. The first two weeks or so, there really wasn't any results & I had many problems getting into ketosis. Of course, not that ketosis is necessary to lose weight, but I felt that knowing I was in ketosis would assure me that my body was changing. Atkins helped me to realize that I am definitely insulin resistant and for some, IR is much more serious. I believe that my lack of being able to get into ketosis was the result of this seriousness. That was when I began the L-Carnitine. Since, I have dropped an additional 3 lbs...with no effort. I have not cut carbs totally. I eat many stir fry dishes (with veggies) and have tried your delicious salad as well as the avocado/shrimp recipe posted earlier. I made it using the Wasa & it was incredible! I even "treat" myself to a VERY small cup of Ben & Jerry's each night....sort of like a reward for the day. However, one small point worth mentioning....without the support of you & everyone else on this board, I don't think I would've made it this far. I am so grateful for the information everyone has provided & the support that is so evident! Personal stories, struggles and the words of wisdom have helped me more than ever! It is so nice to know that I have such incredible "cysters" who can share some part of my life & allow me to do the same! (Keep it up, please, I've got a LONG way to go!!) OK....enough mushy stuff! Keep Smiling! Alexis "Avalos, Clara" wrote:
