Help what do I do now?From: Denise (anonymous@obgyn.net)Tue, 2 May 2000 21:02:13 -0500 (CDT)
About 8 or 9 months ago I went to my doctor with an article from Womans World, which had explained that if you have weight gain, period problems, acne, etc you could have PCOS and your doctor might not catch it. We talked about it and he referred me to an OBGYN. I told him the same thing as my regular doctor that in the last four years I had gained 30 to 40 lbs and had irregular periods even on the pill and I had terrible acne. He ran a bunch of tests, hormone levels, insulin, diabetes, thyroid, etc. In two weeks I returned for a depressing result. He told me all my levels were normal. But my body must be more sensitive to the levels I do have, so he was going to put me on a bc pill that I would have to stay on for the rest of my life!! and he said since I didn't have abnormal hair growth that the acne would be the thing he would work on next. But I said what about the weight gain? And he said well I can't help you with that! You are going to have to diet and exercise. I cried I do I have tried everything, I lose about 9 to 11 lbs and then I can't lose anymore. Since then I have stopped taking the birth control pill because I would like to have another baby and I stopped taking Docacycene for the acne because I don't want to hurt the baby when I do get pregnant. So hear I am 50 lbs overweight and bad acne and having normal periods and still not pregnant after 6 months. What next?
