Jess--You are not alone! I'm new to this site to and it has been a God-send! I've learned more in the past few days about PCOS and it's treatment and have gotten more encouragment than I ever have. Like you, I developed symptoms as a young teen, but now at age 36, I'm just now having confirmation that it's not just that my hormones are a little off and I eat too much. There are days that I look at myself and wonder if I'll become nothing more than a balding, fat, female gorilla--but knowing that there is treatment has boosted my spirits enormously. The symptoms you are experiencing are classic to PCOS and you deserve a dr. to treat you with respect and up-to-date knowledge. As you'll read here, there are treatments that can make a big difference, but it is often an uphill battle finding a dr. to treat you appropriately. Most women have had success finding help with a reproductive endocrinologist, some with a regular gyn (but don't count on that). There are other websites that may be helpful to you to...someone else may be able to help you find those.
