Our 22 year old daughter has just been diagnosed with PCOS and told to to on the pill and try and loose weight. She has put on about 7 kilos - 2 in the last week while "watching what she eats" and being careful and keeping a food diary in anticipation for her first appoint with a OB. She has become very distressed. Metformin seems to be an unknown in this country. Can ANYONE PLEASE HELP with the name of a doctor preferably in Victoria who is willing to prescribe Metformin? Your reply asap would be greatly appreciated and save us the traumas of the medical merry go round I can see ahead of us. Also for a first appointment exactly what do I request in the way of testing?
