Re: Question: Mysterious pains in the chest? From: Kay (anonymous@obgyn.net)Sat, 29 Apr 2000 18:32:36 -0500 (CDT)
I too have experienced mysterious pains in my breasts, along with many other women that I know. I'm a breastfeeding counsellor and have a theory on this. This often happens when nursing women experience thrush (a yeast overgrowth)--sharp, shooting pain in the breasts is one of the symptoms. In my study of yeast overgrowth I've found that they thrive in an environment with sugar imbalance. I've also read studies that declare that anyone who has been on BCP's for a year, an extended course of antibiotics in their lifetime, or has a tendency toward diabetes, almost always has some level of yeast overgrowth. Often these women also struggle with frequent vaginal yeast infections too, but not always. I'm convinced that with the blood sugar mess up that happens in a PCOS body, this could be the cause of the breast pains too. I'm currently taking acidopholus, pau 'd arco, and flaxseed oil to combat the yeast overgrowth. A low carb diet also helps. When these things (the yeast) die off, they sort of burst open and release toxins...when this happens, many times people feel achy, have pains, nausea, and diahrrea. This usually subsides in a few days, during the course of treatment. I don't know if this is the problem, but worth looking into maybe.
