Hmmm, a vaginal or rectal examination would not usually give good access to the ovaries. The examination I am talking about would be where the dr places one hand on your abdomen toward the hip bone, then presses down on top of that hand with their other hand. Sometimes they can press quite hard. Some drs will just use one hand and press in a circular motion in the same area. This is usually done before the vaginal or rectal exam. Right after you lay down and before the stirrups. You may have had this done and forgotten about it because the rest of the exam is so excruciating for most women.

If they had done this and found nothing, they would have repositioned and tried again and would have had a quizical look. You would have noticed if they could not find ovaries. This is also something they would have mentioned because you would not be able to produce estrogen in sufficient levels, even with a uterus, you would probably not have any periods because of insufficient estrogen and progesterone, etc to trigger the sloughing off of the lining. You would know if this were your problem. :-)
