Re: AM I BACKWARDS OR IS MY DOCTOR READING FROM THE WRONG BOOK?From: Monique (anonymous@obgyn.net)Sat, 22 Apr 2000 15:17:31 -0500 (CDT)
Thanks for the info Belle. I am pretty much directing my doctor in this. Although he seems very informed about PCOS, he pretty much leaves the treatment options up to me. My symptoms started when I was 24 and were at their worse when I reached 29. After having my two children, symptoms seemed to improve (other than the weight). The doctor put me on spiro more for high blood pressure (in conjunction with cozaar) but said it would help with the small amount of beard and mustache hair that I do have. Going on met was my idea and I've only been on it two months or so. I was just concerned because it has made my periods irregular (they were regular for the previous two years). When you low carb, what would be a typical day's carbs for you? I have a small appetite and drink tons of water (at least 2 litres a day). I don't eat candy or add sugar to coffee, cereal or anything (not big on sweets at all actually). I have either a couple of cookies or something chocolate maybe twice a week. As for my carbs, I will have either two slices of bread at breakfast with approx. 1/2 cup of pasta(or potatoes, corn, etc) at supper during a day and the rest of my food comes from protein, apples and other veggies. Is this considered a high carb daily intake? Sorry if this message is so long but I do have one more question. What are the normal ranges for the following hormones: DHEAS (mine is 6.2); insulin (293); testosterone (8.4); thyroid (7), estrogen (48); and LH/FSH (5). I don't understand my doctor's rating system. Any ideas? Thanks,
-- Monique
