Kelley, I'm sorry I meant to say "skin diabetes". Acne is often referred to as skin diabetes meaning it is caused by too much sugar in the diet. We have done the Atkins diet, and all the rest but really cannot begin to "live" on any of them strictly, so we just try to stay away from processed foods like bread, pasta, chips, sweets, chips, tortillias and pizza etc. I try to get some protein in the morning, salad and more protein at lunch, low gylcemic fruits likes apples or strawberries or nuts for snacks, and more protein and lots of green vegetables and more salad more dinner. I have a great low carb cookbook called The Low Carb Cookbook by Fran McCullough. It has taught me how to cook so many vegetables in a way that my kids will eat them. It also has a place to order some low carb products like tortillias that are only 3 grams of carbohydrates each. There are a ton of great soup recipies that even if we weren't on a special diet my kids would ask me to make them. We don't try to completely restrict carbs and will have birthday cake at parties or potatoes or bread once a week. I'll even make some whole wheat pasta with low carb spagettii sauce every now and then. Anyway eating whole foods just basically means to stay away from anything that has sugar and flour in it.
