You do not have to have cysts in order to have PCOS. The name was set before this information was discovered. Yes, it is possible for you to have cysts that were missed. I had an ultrasound that showed "normal" sized ovaries but my GYN was convinced that something was causing my pain and did an exploratory. He found over 100 cysts on each ovary.

I would not return to that endocrinologist. Maybe you can find one listed on the physicians directory [name has changed to something else - health care providers(?)] on the PCOSupport home page at http://www.pcosupport.org

If you are not satisfied with your dr, you should try another. I know it is painful and tedious but your health is at stake. You have children to remember. They need a mommy and they need someone who will be informed enough to be able to help them if they begin developing symptoms.
