Re: Do PCOS drugs help with Hirsutism?

I can tell you that I am one of those people who had tweezers in both mine and my husband's car, in my purse, in the hall table next to the front door, in my craft bag, etc. I can tell you where the tweezers are in my mother-in-law's house and my grandmother's house. I can even tell you the difference between the different tweezers. This was just for touch-ups. For the morning ritual, I could not just tweeze.

After being on a low-carb diet and metformin for about 2 - 3 months, I started noticing that the hairs were thinner and were growing in slower. I started having to deal with this problem every other day. Now I notice that the hair is very thin (I cannot feel any stubble at all!) and I just went for 5 days without having to do anything about my chin. I have no acne at all any more. This cleared up very quickly, probably in the first couple of weeks.

I think there is help, I am seeing the light at the end of the tunnel. I am also taking an anti-androgen but it was started after the diet and metformin. I am not sure how much it is helping but the initial results were in before I started taking this. I had tried Aldactone a few years ago by itself and did not see a lot of difference. This time, with the diet and met, I have seen the first improvements ever. I am so glad that I found my endo and she was willing to help. I would advise everyone to take control of their health. Even if you are thin, PCOS can still bring the problems of cancer, heart disease and diabetes. My super thin daughter is insulin resistant.
