Re: PCOS: New diagnosisFrom: A (anonymous@obgyn.net)Fri, 07 Apr 2000 23:33:34 -0400
If you have been newly diagnosed with PCOS, please take this to heart... I've never had a normal period. In fact, without bcp, I would NEVER have a period. When I finally did something about it (went to a physician) I got many of the same answers that you are getting now...1) "not getting your period is no big deal...and who wants a period anyway?!" 2) "lose weight...that may bring on a normal period!" and finally, 3) "the lack of periods is most likely due to PCOS...but it's nothing you need to worry about!" HELLO??? WHAT IS UP WITH THESE PHYSICIANS??? I guess what I'm getting at is this: if your physician tells you that you have PCOS and prescribes Provera to induce a period and then puts you on bcp to "regulate" your cycles....that is not curing the problem....it is merely covering it up! Make them dig deeper! It is surely something that I wish I had done. Good luck to you! :-) Alexis "Avalos, Clara" wrote:
