Re: Please helpFrom: Alexandra (anonymous@obgyn.net)Mon, 3 Apr 2000 06:08:30 -0500 (CDT)
Hi. Steven here is a link for you (or Url) Go there, sign up and use the message boards etc.... I am 3 1/2 weeks post op from my TAH. I almost had resp. arrest from the combo of my epidural and pain pump. I was having really bad reactions to my pain meds. Narcotics that I tolerated well, made me hyper/restless shaky...and nuts. Also my hot flashes came on like gang busters...it's taken this long to balance me..and we still have to conquer my skin etcc... B'tween the anesthetic and rapid loss of hormones your body can go upside down. It is soooooooooo like the traditional medical community to assume that post-op hysterectomy women are crazy/manic etc.... This has been a femisinist issue for years! They use to give hysterectomies to women who were nervous and of "that" age. groannnnnn. Get your wife out of there, she's probably not crazy/manic at all. Get her to a different doctor, and be a very strong avocate for her health care. like.... "No, I don't think my wife is crazy or manic.....I would like you to work w/her hormones/pain meds etc"...and go EVERY WEEK until its fixed. Just by compounding my pain meds, and getting my hormones right, the jitterness/restlessness left. And I wasn't manic. Normal, stable women do not go manic because of a hysterectomy! We're not in the stone ages anymore. Normally, the ONLY psychological sympton is depression due to the loss of child bearing. And concern for her "wowmanly" image. You certainly sound supportive/etc... Steven, get to the hystersisters site......get your wife home...... it will be better! Take care,
-- Alexandra
