i've spent the last couple hours reading past posts and am so happy to find you all. i feel like i know some of you already. i'm 24 and have been suffering from symptoms for about 12 years now. just officially diagnosed this january. when i finally found an endo to listen to me (last november) and test my blood he insisted i get an ultrasound too which showed a large mass on the right side of my ovary/uterus. they couldn't figure out what it was from the ultrasound so i had to schedule exploratory surgery for december - what an x-mas present! it luckyily turned out to be a large fibroid tumor (they run in family). the amazing thing was my previous doctors missed it during my annual exams. needless to say i don't see them any more - didn't much care for how they acted when i brought up PCOS and definately don't trust them now. the fibroid was probably fueled by the high dose BCP which were the only thing offered to me to straighten out my periods. but they made me depressed & left me with no sex drive so i had to go off them 2 years ago. that's when the pcos symptoms accelerated. i've spent a lot of time being mad and frustrated at doctors the last few months and sense so many of them can't seem to give me answer i'm glad i've found you all ladies (& the few men) to commiserate and share with. my dh is very sympathetic to the mood swings & tries to understand but the feeling of being "unfeminine" from excess hair and the threat of infertility are not something easily explained. thanks for the great discussion threads! mariek
