-- I had irregular cycles through my teens, then on BCP until my early twenties, went off and that is when my symptoms started to present-the usual, facial hair, irregular very heavy periods, cystic acne, skin tags etc. Not knowing about PCOS and having doctors tell me it was "normal for you" kept me from putting it all together. I went back on BCP to regulate my periods but was not diagnosed. I went off BCP to become pregnant and conceived after about 9 months. I always felt as if something was "off" with me, but was always told I was "normal". After giving birth to my daughter, I nursed her for a year and then went on BCP for about 3 months and then off again, because I felt that maybe they were causing all of my problems. It took almost 3 years after that for me to be diagnosed. An aside: when I conceived my daughter I was having acupuncture treatments for something else, but I feel that it may have helped my fertility as well, just my opinion. Good luck to you!
