If they are talking about fasting levels, then they are wrong. Many
women have had fasting levels that are fine but found out through the
GTT w/insulin that they were IR. (My dau. is one of them.)
What the professionals should be looking for is the relationship between
the insulin and glucose. They should look to see how high the insulin
has to go in order to get the glucose levels back into normal range.
I cannot tell you at this time to switch drs because I am assuming that
you spoke with a nurse or even a receptionist who may not know as much
as a dr. At this point, if you are comfortable with the dr, stay and
find out if he is willing to help you. If you are not comfortable, you
now have a really good reason for leaving.
As far as artificial sweeteners, research has told us that people gain
more weight each year if they drink diet soda than the people who do
not.
