I have confused you. I am sorry. The study 18 years ago was on insulin resistance and PCOS. This may still help you though. We use met for insulin resistance. You will find the study on the PCOSupport home page. They have a link to journal articles which lists TONS of research articles. http://www.pcosupport.org

You can also go to Dr. Glueck's page http://blues.fd1.uc.edu/~gartsips/polycyst.htm

Actually, met is not approved here for anything other than diabetes. That is why we spend so much time trying to get our insulin levels drawn. If we can prove that our insulin is not functioning properly, we usually have no problems getting the met. There are a few drs who are learning that the research indicates that most (if not all) PCOS victims have some sort of insulin imbalance and met will help us with ovulation, acne, weight loss, lower testosterone, etc. Met has been proven safe for use by its long record.

If this does not help, let me know.

I am in the UK and my doctor has advised that Met is only used for diabetes and is not licensed here for any other condition. However, she says she will try to find out more about it, because she had not heard of it being used for non-diabetic PCOSers. This study might be what Im looking for.
