Just wanted to share with everyone that before about 2 weeks ago, I did not know what PCOS was. After reading an article in Woman's Day, my Mother clearly saw the connection with me. I have all of the symptoms treated by various doctors because, of course, I did not know they were related. I found this site, did some research, and gathered tests from the various doctors. I prepared a personal history and went "armed" to see my OB-GYN. He agreed immediately that I have PCOS. There it was in black and white per the test results, and he could see the rest of the "physical" evidence when looking at me. I took a photo of myself taken 10 years ago. The change has been more than dramatic, and he said it was very helpful to see. I think Doctors often get very complacent when a patient complaines of weight. This doctor has known me a long, long time. He even knew me back when I weighed 90-100 pounds less, yet over time, it is easy to "forget" what a person "used to" look like. A picture is worth a thousand words. He has referred me to an Endrocrynologist. The OB is an outstanding doctor. He also told me as a OB-GYN, he wasn't equipped to anlyze and treat all of the symptoms of PCOS as his focus was on reproduction. The Endo that he has referred me to is hard to get in to see, but with the OB's help, I'm sure I will. This site is the greatest, and the helpful information may very well change my life (including skin, hair, complexion, AND WEIGHT)! Wish me luck, and Thank You!
