Cris, I'm glad you posted. I was only about 11 when I started manifesting symptoms, and unfortunately I went untreated for four more years. I wish my mom had done something sooner! Kudos to you for being so informed. I would suggest taking her to an endocrinologist. Get all the tests done (read the board for more info on which tests), especially regarding the insulin resistance. Try cutting most sugar and flour out of her diet, but don't cut out fruits and veggies - she is too young to be deprived of them. I would get rid of as much processed food as possible, in an attempt to cut down on her carbs. You should clear that with an endocrinologist too, because she is so young. I remember getting teased because I got some facial hair. IF this is a problem and she is concerned, maybe you could bleach it for now, at least until you can get her to the endocrinologist. I wish you lots of luck, and again I think you are great for being so quick to recognize her symptoms and get her some help. If you are not sure what doc to go to, you could try asking on the board - sometimes people can recommend someone good within a state or Metro area.
