Re: paula puffer can you help?From: Belle (anonymous@obgyn.net)Thu, 30 Mar 2000 11:09:37 -0600 (CST)
I am not Paula but maybe I can help until she answers. 1) It is NOT normal to have a 1 month period (or a 4 month period)! You are at risk for anemia to say the least. 2) For you to have this problem and the dr not see you is bordering on malpractice. Perhaps he should talk to scheduling about his schedule. Even when a dr uses a NP, it is traditional to let the NP do the work-up and the dr review it or stick his head in to see you if only for a minute. 3)Put you on Motrin?? OK, I am sorry. I know that you are very concerned about this and it is not fair for me to say this but...get real. 4) After a long period of time with out a period it is normal to go a little longer (8 - 9 days - total) and it is normal to have big clots because the lining has to shed all of the build-up that has been occuring during the time you were not having a regular menstrual flow. It has been a while since December. Should you call in and get something stronger? You should call someone you trust and get a recommendation for a new gyno. If you are having dizzy spells you should go to the ER. You will be able to get to a new dr more quickly that way. He obviously does not know about PCOS (I have 2 children). It would be my guess that he wants your husband there because you cried. He probably thinks your husband can control you better and will at least be a level headed person he can talk to about "your problems". This is just a guess but it is based on experience and observations. GET HELP for yourself. There are a lot of drs out there. Not all of them are jerks!
