Re: stress and pcosFrom: A (anonymous@obgyn.net)Wed, 29 Mar 2000 23:13:26 -0500
I didn't really have a major stress....I am just always stressed out. I am 26 and single....live alone. I was diagnosed @ 19. However, my endo said that I had probably been suffering from PCOS for years. Started my period at age 11 and NEVER had a normal cycle. I have always been a little heavy, but, in the last 8 years, I have gained 100 lbs. I work so hard at watching what I eat....however, I was also very heavy into carbs. Foods that are "quick & easy" for a single workaholic are LOADED with them. Anyway, as to your question. Whenever I would eat foods high in carbs...I would become SO exhausted, unable to function and perhaps even a little more depressed that normal. I started eating VERY LOW carbs last Sat. My energy is incredible...no weight loss yet though. I also had my glucose & insulin tested. My doc also said that they were within the "normal" range. From what I've gathered on this wonderful site of support is that in order to diagnose IR, you must have a GTT & Inuslin test to see how they react to one another. Perhaps, you can suggest your doc gives you this test. Good Luck! Karen wrote:
