It is extremely important for you to have you insulin levels checked when you have your glucose drawn if you dr is not prepared to prescribe metformin on the basis of PCOS alone. You do not need a fasting level only but insulin levels which are drawn at the same times as each glucose level. You should see two tubes, one with a grey top and one red top.
