Relating to thread on old board, regarding pimply things on thighs. From: Jan (anonymous@obgyn.net)Sat, 25 Mar 2000 08:20:57 -0600 (CST)
I was cruising the net last night, and came across a PCOS board at IVillage.com. (I consider this PCOSupport board "home") I copied this message from IVillage, because it made me think of this old thread. "My Gynae has advised me that PCOS insulin resistance means we Cysters are more prone to infection of the Mucus Membranes. The IR creates area's of the body where sugar stores create suitable environment for infection. I get loads of Boils, cysts and ulcers and this is quite common... especially on the breasts under the armpits and around and on the genitalia... Its not your fault and it should ease if you get the Insulin Resistance under control." Has anyone here heard that we are more prone to infections of mucus membranes? I get mouth ulcers sometimes. I've had a few small "pimply things" on my inner thighs too, but not large & painful & scarring yet. Just curious. - Jan
