The fasting time seems fine (usually people fast from midnight the night before their test), but it sounds like she only took a fasting level. In order to see how your insulin and glucose work in your body, you should have a test that lasts hours. The tech takes a fasting level of insulin and glucose then you drink a sugar drink. In an hour (or 1/2 hour depending on the office) you will have another insulin level and glucose level drawn, then in another hour, same thing. Most drs that I am aware of only use a two hour test. Some drs still use the LONG, draining, five hour test. This does not sound like what you had. This is called a GTT w/insulin (glucose tolerance test with insulin levels)
