Head and face: sweat attacks & Q for BelleFrom: Anon (anonymous@obgyn.net)Thu, 23 Mar 2000 13:57:26 -0600 (CST)
Ladies, in reading about your excessive sweating, it reminded me of a problem which I experience occasionally. I sometimes have heavy sweating on my face and up on my head. The sweat literally just POURS out of my skin, dripping off of my nose and chin and running down my neck and back. I usually feel warm when this happens, but not always. I do become shaky and nervous when it occurs. I think that it may be a type of hypoglycemic attack. I always try to drink a cold drink and eat some protein/carb combination snack. (A slice of meat and cheese rolled up together or a couple of crackers with peanut butter on them, for ex.) Then, sit and wait it out. This self-treatment seems to work. I've been tested for diabetes and I don't have that. The doctors think it is hypoglycemia, but my bloodwork tests normally. I wish I knew what triggers these sweats, but I don't know. Does anyone else have this type of sweating? Belle, could it be that my insulin levels spike up during these moments, while my glucose levels are normal?? I have often wondered if this could happen. Thanks!
