Re: My Period just got even weirder.....if there is such a thing! From: Liz (anonymous@obgyn.net)Thu, 23 Mar 2000 13:30:29 -0600 (CST)
Hey Miss Lori, I don't believe there is a need to see a GYN. Go see an endocrinologist. I am sure it is more expensive, but if you don't take care of the problem it can lead to long term health problems like diabetes and infertility. My doc today wrote and said to lower my dose of a drug called Aldactone, which lowers the amount of androgens (male hormones) that your body produces. He thinks this might fix the problem or I'll have to live with it! I have a specialized treatment plan b/c I can't take birth control pills right now b/c of there affects on my spinal fluid. (Long story) Your doctor will probably get you on Aldactone, ortho tricyline, and if your are hypersinsulin probably something like Glucophage. I hope this helps you, but I haven't read your post yet. Again, I would see an endocrinologist because this doesn't just have to just with those cysts on your ovaries, but also all kinds of complicated hormonal imbalances and insulin levels. Let me know how you are doing. Liz At Thu, 23 Mar 2000, Miss wrote: > >Hi Liz! >I just found this site 2 days ago and just posted a message yesterday. I >too had periods every 2 weeks for a while.
