Got my prescription today!From: Linda (anonymous@obgyn.net)Wed, 22 Mar 2000 23:09:53 -0600 (CST)
It was almost too easy. After all the trouble so many of you have had, I didn't expect this. I saw Dr. Robinette of the Gyft Clinic in Tacoma today. I only have to take a fasting insulin and glucose test (no GTT). He gave me a prescription that I can start as soon as I have my blood drawn. I don't have to wait for results. I think just reviewing my chart and records from several years ago was enough to show him I fit the cirteria of PCOS. He said he many times will give the med even with a low insulin level, if the other symptoms are there. Feels that the benefits of taking the drug far outweigh the complications of PCOS without it. Can you believe it? I mean so many of you talk about docs who are so strict that if everthing doesn't fall exactly into line, forget it. I do feel blessed. There was even someone esle seeing the other doctor in the practice who was getting a script for glucophage when I was at the nurses desk. Now to start Sugar Busters too, and hope I don't get too bad of side affects. Have a good supply of imodium just in case. :))
