Re: Looking for a Dr. in PAFrom: Tonya (anonymous@obgyn.net)Wed, 22 Mar 2000 14:30:31 -0600 (CST)
Beth, I live in the Pittsburgh area and I've been going through all the testing in the world for the last 15 years. I was diagnosed a little over a month ago through my regular doctor at one of the UPMC Health Clinics. Once I got the diagnosis, I came to this site, printed everything out and went into my next appointment armed with some information. I'm REALLY glad that I did now, because his solution was to put me on birth control pills and tell me to lose weight. (As tho I don't know that I need to lose weight!) I asked him about the Metformin after he told me that my choices were BCP or Provera and he agreed to put me on it and see what happened. Anyhow, I obviously can't tell you a GREAT doctor to go to in the Pittsburgh area, but I know that if you go through UPMC (my doctor is Dr. Dushan Majkic) you can at least get heard and get started. I'm going back next week for the first round of blood tests to see what's going on with the Met and we're going to talk about my seeing an endocrinologist (because I've got more printouts now!). If you hear anything else or you find someone terrific, could you let me know as well? Thanks! Tonya
