Dear Marlene,

Bless you for trying!!! I'll lend you spiritual support in your march for insurance coverage for electrolysis. I am under BCBS and my doctor said he wanted to wait to see how much the meds would do before he would consider trying to get coverage for electrolysis. I do not know how serious he was.

My opinion is that since the "cosmetic" problem when it is severe, as it is for some of us, can cause great trouble with self-esteem and depression, then we would be healthier if the procedure was more available. I have heard others on the board say they were living like agoraphobics due to the embarrassment. When the hirsutism is severe enough for a person to become agoraphobic or for others to question the person's sexuality, then the electrolysis becomes a necessity.

The very best of luck to you!!
