Are we ever cured??From: anonymous (anonymous@obgyn.net)Mon, 20 Mar 2000 13:02:30 -0600 (CST)
Hi. I was diagnosed with pcod over 12 years ago. My symptoms had been no periods for 12 months before. I wanted to get pregnant and was diagnosed with the disorder. I had gained over a 100 pounds in the 2-3 years before diagnosis. My doctor put me on the pill for about 3 -4 months and then took me off for a couple months. No periods but right before he was going to put me on chlomid he did a pregnancy test and I was pregnant with my daughter (Rebecca 11 years old). My periods came back to normal but I continued to gain weight, another 80 pounds. Also depression. Some facial hair. At present I am regular with some facial hair and the weight is all present. My question is, Since my periods are regular, am I cured? I didn't realize it affected any thing else besides periods and since I am having those I thought I was cured. I have been concerned about the weight and am wondering if that is why I have such a difficult time losing it. ?? My interest was renewed after reading the Womans Day article at the doctors office. Thanks
