A low carb diet has helped many of us lose weight. It seems to be the only thing to work well.

I do not know about your specific case but many of the women who have gotten very sick on metformin started taking larger dosages from the beginning. You should slowly "sneak" up on the metformin dosage. Example: Take 1/2 of a pill a day (with a meal) for a few days then if you can handle that take a whole pill for a week then 1 1/2 for a week, etc. This will minimize the side effects and will make the drug easier to take and therefore give it an opportunity to work in your body. My endo even suggest trying 1/4 of a pill at a time if you are having difficulties.
