after menopauseFrom: gail (anonymous@obgyn.net)Thu, 16 Mar 2000 12:48:53 -0600 (CST)
At the age of 23 I began to gain a lot of weight, without any life style changes. Facial hair began to grow very rapidly, this was in 1963. I didn't start my periods until I was 14 and in a good year maybe I would have 3 periods. I must add that we were very poor and lived in a small southern town with only two doctors. I have lived thur the embarassment of the questions, when is your baby due?, because my stomach looked like I had a basketball hidden in my shirt, and even little kids asking me are you a man or woman? After nine years of trying to have a baby I finally found a doctor who gave me Clomid and I had a baby girl(six weekd early). To make a long story short, I am now 58yrs old, never been diagnosed with PCOS, after years of trying to convince anyone that I was not a fat lazy slob who could lose weight if I really tried, my beautiful daughter has just been dianosed with PCOS and she is only 27. I know it is too late for me, my body is very sick, but please ladies don't give up trying. Now there is so much more information and willing doctors to help.
