15 year old daughter with Polycystic OvaryFrom: Carolyn (anonymous@obgyn.net)Sun, 12 Mar 2000 21:21:15 -0600 (CST)
My daughter who turned 15 in Feb has Polycystic Ovaries. She has had her periods for 3 years and was never regular. She would go months without getting her periods. Last year she went to the gyno and he put her on Loestrin Fe 1/20, she took them for about 4 months and then started getting bad headaches that made her vomit, so she went off them in September. She then got her period in October and November, but then not in Dec, Jan, or Feb and then we went back to the gyno and he put her on the same pills. She is getting sick to her stomach again. Is there anything else to do for this besides being on the pill? She also has had a weight problem for about 4 years. She is 5'4" and weighs 158lbs. She put on 20 lbs since last April. She also has some facial hair that she get waxed off. The gyno put her on provera on Feb 21 and she took that for 5 days and the next day she got her period. Then just on Friday she started getting her period again with alot of cramps and heavy bleeding. She is taking the pill every day. This is very frustrating to her.
