Re: My Answer to 'PCOS'From: Elise (anonymous@obgyn.net)Tue, 30 Sep 2003 22:13:35 -0500 (CDT)
Hi, Sure, now I am no doctor or scientist, but I don't think any correlations have been drawn regarding the blood type of PCOS sufferers. I however have a hypothesis. I believe that a large number of PCOS sufferers are of the O+/- group. Especially those of us with hirsutism and weight problems. Usually we have an imbalance in hormone and insulin levels. I believe that our life long diets are the culprits. O+ blood type is the original blood type. 40% of Americans have an O blood type. Since the original hunter-and-gatherers had this blood type, my hypothesis is that the original diet of high protein and low carbs is the diet for us. The more we eat fast food, processed and refined foods, starches and sugars, the more our insulin levels get outta wack. Years and years of eating this way causes changes in our body that effect reproduction hormones and extreme blood sugar level fluctuations. We also have problems with weight because original man was very active, engaged in heavy exercise (work) daily for long periods of time - in order for us to lose weight, we must work harder at our bodies than the other blood types. Again, I don't think drugs are the answer...our bodies have the answer, and a simple alteration in diet could be key...eat for your blood type! http://www.doctorbannock.com/BloodType.htm this is a good site on blood type. http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/039914255X/002-1309160-3585651?v=glance here is a book on how to eat for your blood type.
