Re: Dr.Sam, how metformin is related to lactic acidosisFrom: Regina (anonymous@obgyn.net)Sun, 28 Sep 2003 22:29:59 -0500 (CDT)
Sujatha, I have been reading this sight for years but have never posted. I have been taking metformin for almost a year. I know abdominal discomfort is not uncommon or worrisome so I don't worry about that but I have had an ongoing mysterious pain in my left back, made worse by taking a deep breath in, at times it is not noticeable and at times it literally takes my breath away. I see that this message was written two years ago and I am hoping you still come on to the this site. I am very curious to know what ever happened with your left back pain. I also thought of lactic acidosis and I noticed you were "blown off" like I was in hearing that it is very rare. The truth is, although it helps in so many ways, with most medicines that have not been out long enough for lifetimes studies, long term side effects are not known for many, many years. I hope that you or someone can tell me something about this. PS. I tear up whenever I get on this site, it is so comforting and crazy to hear about all the trial and errors we all go through. Thanks so much. At Wed, 19 Sep 2001, sujatha wrote: > >Hello Dr.sam, > > I am worried . What is lactic acidosis and how this can be caused by >metformin.
