1400 calories seems awful low.. i'd say don't do that unless your doctor told you to, and it's definately not a long term goal to stay at 1400 calories, i would hope.

also, it might be helpful to find a good nutritionist (check credentials, there are alot of bad ones!) to help you make it easier on yourself, to make a meal plan with things you both like and are easy to make, etc

congrats on the excerscise--my nutritonist (though she was mostly useless, sadly) ..well, the only worthwhile thing sh told me (i picked a bad one) was that the positive, good feeling effects of excerscise take about 6 weeks to kick in..so if you can bear it out, take the drudgery for that long you should be able to physcially start to enjoy it--the chemicals in your body will stat to take effect at the excerscise and produce some good feelings.
