Click, kudos for being aggressive and getting a handle on this problem early in your life! Great job. I hope you do well, and that your efforts now, pay off in the future. I'm 43. I've been reading about using Glucophage for a while with PCO. I've never tried to conceive, so working agressively with my PCO hasn't been too much of an issue. After reading at this forum a lot, I decided last week, while I was in at my doc to have asthma presciptions written, to ask what he knew about it, did he have PCO patients on glucophage, etc. Also told him I was interested in maybe trying it so I don't end up with diabetes, etc. We didn't really decide on anything at that point. Had my blood drawn for lipids, etc. Went back in Monday morning at the doc's request. It didn't take a lot of testing for him to let me have the glucophage......he told me I already have diabetes! Major bummer. I have no symptoms! Man, am I glad I decided to go in to the doc to get asthma meds that day, and decided to have a cholesterol test! So I got my glucophage prescription without having to convince the doc. I also got a blood sugar testing kit, and a diet to follow, and a major scare. Nothing like seeing ten years chopped off your potential life span to make 1400 calories a day suddenly look really good. And cookies look soooooooo bad. Sure wish I'd looked into this a few years ago. This is NOT how I wanted to start Glucophage. This is day three on Glucophage XR, 500 mg. No problems so far. I hope I do well on it.
