second opinion

I was recently diagnosed with PCOS after consulting a doctor about fertility problems. My doctor asked me some questions, but did not do any testing. He then put me on metfomrin, progesterone, and clomid. I had some initial problems adjusting to the metformin, but now feel fine. Should I be concerned that no testing was completed? Is it recommended that I see a reproductive endocronlogist? As a side note - I was told that I should not eat bread, pasta - is whole wheat bread, pasta okay? Thanks.
